Although its source can be found in Russia, the Dnieper River is most prominent in Belarus and, in particular, Ukraine. It may not be as much of a household name as the Volga or Danube, but it is actually the fourth longest river in Europe behind these two waterways and the Ural.
Along with many reservoirs and important hydro-electric power stations, towns and cities such as Kremenchug and Zaporozhye lie on the banks of the river. Here, guests can learn about the history of the Cossacks and see traditional architecture. Dnieper River cruises usually take place between Kiev and Kherson, taking travellers from the capital all the way to the Black Sea.
